Correct Range of Pipe Bending Radius
Bending radius is the radius of curvature of the bending centerline, the bending radius is usually determined according to the design requirements.
Bend the pipe when the elbow inside the metal is compressed, the pipe wall becomes thicker; elbow outside the metal is stretched, the pipe wall becomes thinner. The larger the bending radius, the higher the smoothness of the pipe. If the pipe diameter and bending radius is small, even if there is no operational error, the bending process is also prone to internal wrinkles or cracks, bending quality is difficult to ensure.
General hot simmering pipe bending radius is not less than 3.5 times the outer diameter of the pipe; cold simmering pipe bending radius is not less than 4 times the outer diameter of the pipe; welded elbow bending radius is not less than 1.5 times the outer diameter of the pipe; stamping elbow bending radius should be not less than the outer diameter of the pipe.
For a pipe, no matter how many bends, no matter how the bending angle, the bending radius is best to be uniform. If the assembly space is narrow, the pipe layout is limited, resulting in the need for multiple bending radii on one pipe, or when the straight line segment is short, it is necessary to consider double or multi-layer tooling, or composite tooling.
